1. Who we are
Main Street Mate (https://mainstreetmate.com) is a marketing tool for local businesses, operated by Main Street Mate ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address, and password. Passwords are stored securely hashed by our login provider; we never see them.
- Business details: what you enter in Business info, such as the business name, industry, city, services, phone, website, and Google review link.
- What you put into the tools: topics, notes, review text you paste in, photos you upload, and your checklist answers.
- Content we create for you: posts, replies, descriptions, plans, and FAQs, plus their approval status.
- Team details: email addresses of people you invite, and their roles.
Information collected automatically
- Login cookies that keep you signed in (see our Cookie Policy). We don't use advertising or analytics cookies.
- Basic server logs kept by our hosting provider (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) to keep the service secure and working.
- Records we keep to run the service: an activity log of important actions (for example, who approved a post), a log of emails we sent, and counts of AI requests for cost control.
Information about your customers
If you paste in customer reviews, or (once available) add customer names, phone numbers, or email addresses to send review requests, you are responsible for having the right to share them and for their consent to be contacted. We process that information only on your behalf, only to provide the features you use.
3. How we use it
- To provide Main Street Mate: write content, save it, run your weekly plan, and show it to your team.
- To send emails you need: sign-up and login links, team invitations, and the weekly plan email (which you can turn off).
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to build profiles about you.
4. AI processing
When you use a tool, we send the relevant business details and the information you entered (and photos, for Photo to post) to Anthropic's Claude service to write the content. Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms for business customers, which do not allow it to train its models on our data. AI-written content can contain mistakes; you review and approve everything before it's used.
5. Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that help us run Main Street Mate, only as needed for their job:
| Provider | What they do | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel | Hosts the website and app | All app traffic |
| Supabase | Database, logins, and photo storage | Account, business, content, and photo data |
| Anthropic (Claude) | Writes posts, replies, plans, and other content | Business details, review text, notes, and photos you submit to a tool |
| Resend | Sends email (sign-up, invitations, weekly plan) | Name, email address, and email content |
| Inngest | Runs scheduled jobs such as the Monday plan | Business IDs needed to run a job |
Coming later, and only when you use those features: Twilio (text messages (review requests, approve-by-text)); Google (business profile connection, when you choose to connect it); Stripe (payments, once paid plans start). We'll update this list before turning any of them on.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect anyone's safety or rights, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (in which case this policy keeps applying to your data).
6. Text messages
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party, except the text message provider we use to deliver the messages. See our Text Message Terms.
7. Google data
When you choose to connect a Google Business Profile, Main Street Mate's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use that data only to provide the features you turn on (such as showing your reviews and publishing posts and replies you approve), never for advertising, and you can disconnect at any time.
8. How long we keep it
- We keep your account and business data while your account is open.
- When you delete your account (or a business), we delete its data from our database right away, including uploaded photos. Copies in our providers' backups are removed within about 30 days.
- We keep the minimum records the law requires (for example, payment records once paid plans start).
9. Your choices and rights
- See and download your data: Your account → Download my data.
- Correct it: edit Business info and Your account at any time.
- Delete it: Your account → Delete my account. Owners can also delete a single business.
- Stop emails: use the unsubscribe link in any weekly email, or the switch in Your account.
- Anything else: email hello@mainstreetmate.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Depending on where you live (for example, California, Virginia, Colorado, or the EU and UK), you may have legal rights to access, correct, delete, or move your data, and to object to certain uses. We give these choices to everyone, wherever they live, and we won't treat you differently for using them.
10. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited by role, and each organization can only see its own data. API keys stay on our servers. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we'll tell you as the law requires.
11. Children
Main Street Mate is a business tool for people 18 and older. It is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 (or under 13, as defined by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act). If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
12. Where data is stored
Our providers store data in the United States.
13. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and for important changes we'll let you know by email or in the app before they take effect.
